You only need to fill out ONE application, regardless of how many dogs you might be interested in meeting. Also, when you submit the form, the screen may look blank. Scroll to the top of the page to see a confirmation message. Please do not submit the form multiple times.
Our adoption fee is $200 for dogs, $275 for puppies, and $100 for seniors, regardless of breed. People with a valid military ID will receive a $50 discount on any dog. The fee includes the animal's spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, and a complimentary vet visit at one of our great vets within seven days of the adoption. You will also have 30 days to return the dog for a full refund or exchange for a different dog if it is not the right fit for your home. We accept cash or credit cards.
Most of our dogs are kept in volunteer foster homes. Our volunteers do their best to evaluate the dogs and their behavior to inform the future owners about what they have observed while the dog has been living in their home. Please be aware that even if a dog has been living in a foster home, it is not a guarantee that the dog will not present other behaviors that were unknown to the foster family.
If you are interested in a puppy (under four months old), we have a policy to hold our puppies for at least 10 days prior to adoption, during which we are clearing them from any life-threatening illnesses and getting them spayed/neutered and up to date with shots, etc. We DO NOT allow them to be seen during that hold period. One reason is that it is unfair to ask our fosters to make all of their puppies available at multiple times leading up to adoption. Also, since our puppies come from animal control facilities, it is not unusual for them to contract a serious (or even fatal) illness, and we don’t want your family to meet and begin to bond with a puppy only to have it possibly pass away from illness or surgery. We will set their adoption appointments as soon as possible once they are past the hold period. Thank you for understanding!
Once an application has been submitted, it will immediately be forwarded to the person responsible for adopting the pet you applied for, and they will contact you with the status of your application within 48 hours. If the pet is still available and would make a good fit for your home, we will ask you to schedule an appointment to meet the dog and complete the paperwork for adoption. Sometimes our emails end up in your spam/junk folder, so please keep an eye on that. If you have not heard from us after 48 hours, you may email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (248) 834-9419 to have someone follow up.
Once you have adopted your new best friend, we ask that you visit our post-adoption page to learn about all the resources available after you adopt.
